Will my Vein Treatment Require Hospitalization?

Fortunately these days, hospitilization is not required for vein treatments. With minimally invasive procedures vein treatments, including vein treatments for varicose veins, have transitioned from the operating room to the outpatient or in-office setting. Self care at home includes the use of compression sockings as well as regular exercise and intermittent leg elevation.

With more severe cases of varicose veins that do not respond to conservative management additional procedures such as injectional sclerotherapy, ambulatory phlebectomy and catheter based procedures using radio frequency or laser may be used. These procedures do not require hospitalization.

Patients are treated using only local anesthesia with or without mild sedation. Patients are generally very comfortable and return to normal activites is encouraged as soon as possible.
