Minnesota Vein Center has expanded patient treatment options! We are the Twin Cities first to include the new minimally invasive technique used to treat varicose veins. Similar to EVLA and EVRF, the new Clarivein® treatment works to destroy the inner lining of the vein allowing it to seal and scar down. Instead of using laser or radiofrequency energy to seal the vein, however, the Clarivein catheter utilizes a rotating micro-wire and injected sclerosant (medication to seal the vein.) Clarivein® requires only a very small amount of local anesthetic at the insertion site. Unlike, other state-of-the-art procedures, there is only the initial injection at the catheter insertion site. Tumescent anesthesia is not required with this new treatment option. Minimal needle pokes is a deciding factor for some patients. The procedure takes about 30 minutes and is essentially painless. There is no down-time and patients may resume normal activity as soon as the procedure is complete. Ask Dr. Pal if you are a candidate for the ClariVein® catheter-based treatment. He will explain the benefits of this choice compared to other methods of treatment. Due to insurance restrictions, only select patients are able to have the ClariVein® procedure. This method is very effective with even less discomfort than previous methods. Make an appointment with Dr. Pal at Minnesota Vein Center to discuss your options and see how this new medical advancement can help you.
